In love, do not make every hand a scorecard.
Games make scorekeeping visible. Relationships can make it tempting. Who planned, who paid, who remembered, who gave more? Sometimes the list tells us something important. More often, it is a sign to stop and have a kinder conversation.
Say what you need before it becomes a tally.
“I need more help getting this night ready” is clearer than silently collecting evidence.
Let each person have a different kind of hand.
One person may love the guests. Another may love the logistics. A fair partnership does not always look symmetrical from the outside.
